Today is the first day of our trip
to Ecuador! Everyone met at JFK at 8 AM and surprisingly no one was (too) late! While we waited Ms Gorla helped distribute the trail mix Ms Maggio made for everyone in the group and some granola bars...
As we waited for everyone to get their boarding passes, we enjoyed our first card games together. After going through security, we all walked to Gate 44.
Our first flight was uneventful; we
got to Miami at the expected time, but our plane encountered a problem, so we
ended up waiting an hour and a half longer for the flight then we should have.
We took this time to walk around the airport and get food (including a super
bad and overpriced BLT), but we also played a lot of card games, and even some cards against humanity. Some of us
also enjoyed a fun game of Charades. Ms. Maggio beat everyone at Speed
Scrabble, and Dillon suffered a great defeat in Spit.
Eventually, we switched
gates, boarded the new plane, and were off on our four-hour flight. Everyone was tired from the
extended layover, and most of us spent the plane ride asleep. The airplane food
was surprisingly okay, and some of us watched The Theory of Everything, but for the most part we just played card
games or drifted off.
After we landed we met with our EF tour leader, Jorge, and boarded a bus with super soft seats and disco party lighting that would take us to our hotel.
It is now 1:15 AM local time and we are all
checked into the hotel and in bed… we have a 6:30 wake up call to start our
first full day in Ecuador!
